Croptober at Apron Strings: Catch up Challenges Week of 10/21

Hey friends!

I decided to just make one post to catch up on the challenges over at the Apron Strings blog from week 10/21. I did two of the layouts and I was going to do the 3rd and I pooped out. I got sick (stomach flu - AGAIN) on Monday and then Tuesday, my son Wyatt started throwing up, and he had the same stomach flu. It was terrible. We laid around watching cartoons on Nick Jr. and cuddled most of the day. Spent hours in bed eating crackers and adhering to the BRAT diet. I hope to not repeat that ANY time soon. I lost precious packing time too! Although I must admit, I LOVED the cuddling and snuggling with my sick little guy (picture below). I had high hopes of using some super cute Fall Jillibean design paper for the challenge on the 25th. :( I hope this weeks challenges allow me to dive into that kit!!
So here are my two layouts...here is the first one from Tuesday10/22. I pulled the polka dots as my inspiration and the brads, I used sparkly chipboard dots instead. And the label...

Here is my 2nd layout from Wednesday 10/23. I liked the repeating pattern of the pumpkins so I used repeating polka dots and repeating Spooky words. Cute retired Stampin Up paper that I have been hoarding ;) I even found a black cat on a cute little Beware die cut. Wyatt was sad because he just wanted milk and to go nigh-nigh. Auntie Caroline tried to hold him for a while. :(

Looking forward to more Croptober Challenges over at Apron Strings this coming week! One of my favorite scrapbooking blogs! :) I hope to do a couple more challenges before I pack up the last of my scrap booking supplies. Move is set for Friday, November 1st!

Sketchy Thursdays Challenge

Here is this week's sketch for the Sketchy Thursdays challenge.
I used some We Are Memory Keepers paper that I have had for at least a year! I saw the splatter background and wanted something a little more flourishy. This paper had this great pattern just in one spot of the paper so I thought it would work great. To add some dimension I added the popped up butterflies from Stampin Up set, Kind Thoughts. The Memories journal stamp is by My Mind's Eye and the border stamp is by Hampton Art.
Fun sketch!

3 in 1 Challenge - Stuck on U sketches, Frosted designs, Practical Scrappers

This was a pretty fun sketch challenge by StuckonUSketches!
Then I had to step it up by adding an owl for Frosted Designs. If that wasn't enough, I had to use 3 different ribbons for Practical Scrappers. Ok, all in all it wasn't that hard. It was pretty fun! I scrapped a page of my boyfriend and his mama from our camping trip at June Lake. Camping pages are pretty fun, I hope to do more of them! Check out my sister in law's beautiful page here!

6th Grade Pic

Here is a layout I did for Design Dollies sketch challenge. This is a fun challenge site! You can combine their 3 weekly challenges into one project to get entered for all 3 monthly drawings! This would be the way to go, but I was a little pressed for time so I just did the sketch drawing. It was very cool and I'll be sure to be back! I used My Mind's Eye Dreamy paper which will be up in my store Sweet Scrap Deal this week, Heidi Swapp chipboard letters, Stampin' Up letters and Unity Stamps.
Yay! Another page in my childhood album DONE. ;)

Ad Inspired My Mind's Eye Challenge

I happened upon this challenge on the My Mind's Eye blog, and I'm so glad I did! I just love MME papers...embellishments, journal cards...everything! So, the challenge was to pick a magazine ad and use it for inspiration on a layout. I picked the one shown here. I liked how it spoke of family, I liked the vine and the grapes on it, the journal tag and the stamp of "grapes from California". I used My Mind's Eye Breaking Free Flip n Flirt Paper, die cuts and journal tag. So the grapes inspired me to use a string and thread them through my die cuts. I also used ribbon in place of the other line of grapes. Instead of a photo on the left I used a die cut and popped it up for some depth. And I stamped "Family" where the other stamp was. I was also inspired to stamp some flourishes where the vine was! I liked the way this turned out and I think I'll definitely use this ad-inspired technique again!

And here are some close-ups:

Apron Strings 5 on Friday!

So, it's still Friday (my time!) so I hope this one counts for the Apron Strings 5 on Friday Challenge! ;) But if it doesn't that's ok because I'm not to thrilled with my work. Maybe it's the teal flourished stamped on it, I think it might be too dark of a blue...oh well! At least I got another one of my baby pictures scrapped and the challenge was fun. I had to use:

* 1 sheet of cardstock (DCWV)
* 1 sheet of patterned paper with swirls (My Mind's Eye - Penny Lane)
* 1 swirl or flourish element (stamped image from Stampin' Up)
* 1 circle element (My Mind's Eye - Penny Lane)
* 1 length of ribbon (Maya Road)

Please comment and tell me what you think I could have done differently! I really do need the constructive criticism! So, here is what I came up with...

Cute Card Thursday Challenge 77

Hi All!

I created this card for the Cute Card Thursday Challenge 77 - Strawberry Mint Julep. The challenge this week was to use pink and green. These are two sweet colors that go so well together. I really liked this color combo. Here's my card...

2 Sketches 4 You Challenge

I needed a baby card for my friend Mandy and this sketch above from the 2 sketches 4 You challenge was perfect for it! I really like the circle on it and the simplicity of it. I adore My Minds Eye paper too! Here is my take on this sketch.

Simon Says Stamp Challenge

This card challenge sketch is for the Simon Says Challenge Blog. In honor of Heidi's birthday I made this little card. I know it's not a "birthday card" but this little bear wants to wish her a Happy Birthday anyway! :) Hope you like it Heidi! Here's my take on it...don't those little clear buttons look like icicles?? :) I had to use them cuz my sister picked them out ;) And I think that ribbon looks like little snow balls! {too cute!!}

52 Sketches 52 Weeks

I love this layout! This is my first layout for 52 Sketches 52 Weeks and it certainly won't be the last! ;)I knew right when I saw this sketch I was going to do a masculine page with my man on it. OH, and since the picture I wanted to use was vertical, I had to turn the LO. The paper is My Minds Eye Breaking Free, gorgeous, love it. Those are American Crafts {Subway} Thickers too. My sister in law is doing this one too so I'll have to link hers when she's done. And, here is Lou's.
