Designing a Fall Card Using Falling Leaves by Stampin' Up!

I absolutely love that Spice Cake designer paper from Stampin' Up!'s Holiday mini catalog! Did I already mention that?? I love the scallop border punch too, so I had to use it with this card. I started with Early Espresso cardstock and the piece of DSP that has paisley and flower patterns on it in Pear Pizzazz. I layered a 1" piece of scalloped Very Vanilla behind the DSP.


I knew I wanted to use the stamp set Falling Leaves, but wasn't sure how I wanted to stamp them. I even checked with my stamping assistant Hunny...she wasn't sure either ... :)


So, we decided to stamp the leaves in Pear Pizzazz first and mount them on Early Espresso. Too much green?

I checked with my husband Galen and he said I should mix it up a little bit...so...


Then I just needed a sentiment, so I had cut a little banner and curled it using my bone folder...

Rice Pack

I have been going to the chiropractor for lower back pain for about 3 weeks now. I stopped going because my symptoms didn't seem to get better. She suggested I continue to do stretches, which I will, and also use a rice "heat" pack. Well I didn't have one so I decided to pull out my Pixie craft sewing machine by Singer and try my hand at it. I had no clue what to do so of course I pulled up a handy video on You Tube!

I used the beautiful Spice Cake fabric available in the Stampin' Up Mini Catalog. You can check it out on my website here. You can make 6 rice packs out of each box of fabric and the box of fabric is $9.95. I just opened the sheet of fabric and cut it in half, then followed the instructions on the video. I'm not a sewer by any means, and it turned out pretty good!!
I have to get moving and making a bunch of these for a craft fair in November!

Connie & Mary Card Sketch Challenge

I think this is a great sketch over at Create with Connie and Mary.
I had to use my new design paper from Stampin' Up! which will be available September 1st!! Isn't it gorgeous?? It is my new fall favorite! It boasts some cool colors for fall...Pool Party, Soft Suede, More Mustard and Pear Pizzazz. They are just simply yummy together!

I also think that the antique brads go beautifully with this paper! I used the 2-step stamping technique and I embossed the outline using the same color ink and clear embossing powder. To do this technique, just stamp the first stamp in the color you want. Then take the outline stamp and ink it in Versamark first, then the same color. Stamp it over the first image and sprinkle the embossing powder, then heat. I noticed it was much easier to free hand the 2nd step rather than using the stamp-a-ma-jig, but you can use it if it helps you. The versamark takes a while to dry so I had plenty of time to do all the colors then sprinkle the powder. I'm going to use this card for an upline group meeting, hope everyone loves it!



I went back and simplified this card for my upcoming card class on Wednesday. I changed the design paper, but only eliminated the Pear Pizzazz and went with Pool Party. I adore this color combination!



So, due to some minor health issues, our plan to get pregnant has been put on hold. It's a bummer...we are both so ready to be proud parents, but we know that God has His plan for us and it's just not the right time yet. We hope to start trying in a couple months! Hoping for the best. :)
