First time flyin a kite!!

**Scroll down for the Friends with Flair post &

Breast Cancer Blog Hop(e)**

Yep, that's right, 34 years old and I had never flown a kite! So, here is my experience I had on Tuesday and a nice little video for you to enjoy LOL. Hope you can hear it, it was CRAZY windy, as you can see from my hair. I look terrible LOL.
Anyway, about my page, I don't know if I like the ribbon on it, but too late HA! I used the sketch at Apron Strings that Lori posted, it was perfect for these pics! I also used the Scraproom Challenge which was to use different fonts in the title. And if that wasn't enough I used Scrap & Stamp's open challenge and used stamps on my page. (Stamps used: Heidi Swapp Alphabet & Banana Frog Arrows - which I won on Mary Macaskill's site!)

Breast Cancer Awareness Blog Hop & Friends with Flair Friday!

Michelle at Inside My Own Private Idaho started a Blog Hop(e) for Breast Cancer Awareness month! Isn't that perfectly delightful? :) I'm happy to be apart of it! If you're here for the hop, you should have come from sweet Sunshine's blog. If you just happened upon my blog, head on over to Michelle's blog to start the hop! I am giving away this Cosmo Cricket Friends chipboard kit (new in a box) to one lucky commenter from this post! (because we should all cherish our friends!) *must comment on 10/30/09, winner will be announced on 10/31/09*
When you're done checking out my card, head on over to Keri's cool blog to continue the Hop(e)!

If you're here for Unity Friends with Flair Friday, you're in the right spot! You are also eligible to win, just comment on my post! Be sure to check out all the talented Friends with Flair on Unity's Blog HERE.
I made this card using Unity's stamps from the Oct KOM. I love the quotes they come up with! This card is honor of Breast Cancer Awareness of course, but I also chose to use the card sketch from Sweet Sketch Wednesday and their color challenge.

Then I decided to kick it up a notch (thanks Emeril!) and add some sparkle because that's what the challenge is all about at Simon Says Stamp Challenge blog! I added some gold stickles to the sunshine and rock candy stickles(----> very cool!) to the pink ribbon.

...and a close-up...

Whew! That's it for today! Don't forget to sign up for my BLOG CANDY HERE, and also check out my SPECIAL DEAL for the OCT UNITY STORE KIT HERE!---->only good until 10/31!
Have a blessed weekend! :)

Fight Like a Girl

I used the sketch from 2 Sketches 4 You #38 and also incorporated the Just Us Girls Challenge by using a "tissue paper flower".

I loved the video by Mona on the Just Us Girls Challenge site. It was very helpful, although I didn't have the Spellbinders flowers, so I improvised and used my scallop punch...it sort of worked! :)
I used a very cool digi set that I got from Whimsie Doodles that celebrates Breast Cancer Awareness which I think is a wonderful cause! This stamp was only $2.50 and the proceeds go to Breast Cancer Research, how awesome is THAT?! :) (they also have a little boy and a princess girl now along the same lines, SO cute!) I used paper piecing with Cosmo Cricket Girl Friday, which is the cutest paper!

Sketchy Thursday 10.22 Challenge

I created this layout for an awesome new sketch challenge I found, Sketchy Thursday.

This picture was taken of me when I was 14 and just about to go meet a boy. :) I fell for him over the summer of '89 when parachute pants and big hair were in. Although, I was never much for big hair. ;) It was funny because I just started making out with this boy and my brother came to his house and was banging on the door. He told me that I had to come back to the lakehouse! What timing LOL.
Anyway, I love this mix of paper that seems to go along with my flirty attitude. Oh and the pompom ribbon and tulle! The patterned paper is KI Memories and American Crafts. I sprayed the ink on the background using my color spritzer tool from Stampin' Up and my pink Marvy marker. First time I used this tool and I've had it since my sister in law gave it to me LAST Christmas! I guess I just wasn't aware it was SO cool. LOL
I loved this sketch, very fun...

And a close-up so you can see the marker splatter...

Card: One Love One Life

Good Afternoon All!

I made this card for a couple challenges. First up is the Apron Strings color challenge which is to only use the colors in this picture:

The 2nd one is for the Etsy Inspired challenge #59, which is to be inspired by the shop called The Little Red Door. I picked one of their items for sale and got inspired! I picked this charming little country house.

The colors were perfect for my challenge and it reminded me of a shabby little church. So, that led me to my Unity Oct KOM stamps! I used ink distressing because the house looked a little like that with all the speckles. I created a "door" on the front of my card just because I was inspired to do that! :)Hiding behind the door is the church and inside the card I stamped one of Unity's sentiments, perfect for a "wedding" card.

Welcome to the 1st S2G Members Blog Hop sponsored by Shirley's2Girls! You should have hopped from Gina's sweet blog to mine. If you've just happened upon my blog, you can CLICK HERE to start from the beginning at the S2G Challenge Blog.

I made this Halloween card for the Midnight Madness challenge using one of S2G digi-stamps, Hallo-Scream! I love this cute kitty poppin' out of the pumpkin! This stamp is very affordable and easy to use. You can print it on your white cardstock and color it in or print it on color/patterned paper and paper piece it like I did. Either way, it will look fabulous!

Now, how about a prize? In addition to the fabulous eye candy, we have decided to hide a prize somewhere along the hop! One pre-selected blogger will draw a random winner from the comments on her post, and the winner will receive a free stamp from Shirley’s2Girls. The fun part is...we're not telling you who it is! Friday Friends with Flair!

Today is a great day!

One, because it's Friday Friends with Flair showcasing Unity Stamps, and two, I'm alive and healthy {thank you God}! I feel so blessed to have the life I have in this awesome free country. {Thanks to all our hardworking dedicated military personnel!}
I hope you're enjoying your Friday and the amazing creations by all these talented beautiful women that are participating in Friends with Flair! Be sure to stop by Unity's blog HERE to get the list of all the blogs.

I love Unity stamps because they are so unique. They have a very random wonderful selection of stamps in their kits! I love how they slipped in a few wedding stamps in the last two KOM's. I used a couple here on this layout (also 52 sketches...52 weeks challenge), which is a present for my friend Kwang who got married in August. I used the Mr. & Mrs. stamp and the "one love <3 one life" stamp in my journaling. (both are from the Sept & Oct KOM's)

And here's a close-up so you can really see those Unity stamps! :)

And in case you didn't get enough Unity yet...I inked up another stamp from the Oct KOM and used it on the cover of a travel album (Making Memories) I made for our vacations. I used a mask with some glimmer mist on the cover, some bling and thickers ( I love thickers!).

Be sure to enter my blog candy giveaway HERE and check out my screamin deal for the Oct Unity Store Kit HERE. Hope you all have a blessed day!

A Giveaway, Just Because! {Heidi Swapp Date Stamper}

Saturday I spent the day with my sister at the Scrapbook Expo in Sacramento. Let me tell ya...wow! There were so many cool booths, cute make n takes, super steals, etc etc! I got to try the new brad i-top tool from Imaginesce, it's so COOL. I just posted their blinkie for the tool on my sidebar. If they spot it, I could win an i-top tool! (then I could cross it off my Christmas list!) ;) We had a lot of fun at the Expo! Here's a picture of me and my sister in front of the door prize booth. We didn't win, but I did give away a gift certificate to a lucky gal for "one FREE deal of the day + FREE shipping"! I didn't have a booth there, but next year, my goal is TO BE THERE WITH A BOOTH!!! =)

So, I thought I would give away something I got from the Expo, just because! It's a Heidi Swapp date stamper. It goes from 1998 to 2009. I have one myself and I love it for journaling in a date when I just don't have the right rub-ons! (See the cute post-it note? I stamped it with a stamp I bought that says "Isn't life Sweet?!" I just love the font and the saying...kinda goes with my store! :) stamp is by Craftsetc.com)

So, just leave me a comment on this post about what kind of deals you would like to see more of in my store Sweet Scrap Deal. Whether it is more bling, die cuts, stamps, ribbon, stickers, chipboard, markers, totes/bags, paper pads or loose paper, flowers, inks, tools or any other scrapbook/paper crafting product you can think of...or more FREE shipping days, cheaper shipping, combined shipping, etc!! Tell me what you think!
I'll pick a winner using random.org on Sunday morning, October 25th. Thanks for your input and support!

Mojo Monday #109 on a Wednesday!

This has been a busy week scrapping and making cards, oh and housework too! (LOL) So I haven't had much time to do all my challenges. I'm getting some done at least and that makes me happy. So many challenges, so little time. ;) I found time today to do the Mojo Monday Challenge 109. I did some distressing of the edges, used Ranger distress ink in Broken China, clear embossed a Hero Arts stamped image, then added more distress ink. I also used some distress embossing in Walnut Stain on one of the dark leaves. The patterned paper is from Stampin' Up and the ribbon is from Maya Road. The leaves & acorn, I just love, is Autumn Splendor from Stampin' Up.

And here is a close-up of the distress embossing...

Ad Inspired My Mind's Eye Challenge

I happened upon this challenge on the My Mind's Eye blog, and I'm so glad I did! I just love MME papers...embellishments, journal cards...everything! So, the challenge was to pick a magazine ad and use it for inspiration on a layout. I picked the one shown here. I liked how it spoke of family, I liked the vine and the grapes on it, the journal tag and the stamp of "grapes from California". I used My Mind's Eye Breaking Free Flip n Flirt Paper, die cuts and journal tag. So the grapes inspired me to use a string and thread them through my die cuts. I also used ribbon in place of the other line of grapes. Instead of a photo on the left I used a die cut and popped it up for some depth. And I stamped "Family" where the other stamp was. I was also inspired to stamp some flourishes where the vine was! I liked the way this turned out and I think I'll definitely use this ad-inspired technique again!

And here are some close-ups:

S2G Challenge #29 & Cupcake Craft #62

I decided to have a visit over at the Shirley's 2 Girls blog since someone I visit often is on the design team there, Justine! So I'm checking out this challenge and it looks pretty cool...then I check out the digi stamps and they are super cute! So, I had to get me some and do up a card for their sketch challenge shown here.
I'm also using this for the Cupcake Craft Challenge #62 which is to create a card using the theme "THINGS THAT GO BUMP IN THE NIGHT". I think this kitty qualifies for that!
For this card I used some Daisy D's paper, Basic Grey paper, some Queen & Co brads and other misc embellies.
Stay tuned for a BLOG HOP that I will be participating in THIS Saturday! I would love it if you could come back to check out my creation, post some love & you might even be entered to win a PRIZE!! :)

Friends with Flair Friday with Unity Stamp Co!

Today is Friends with Flair Friday and I'm so excited to be a part of it! Be sure to check out Angela's Blog HERE for all the other Friends with Flair participants!
Also, be sure to check out the sweet sale they are having at Unity until Sunday!

The fall card I'm sharing today features stamps from the Unity Sept KOM (kit of the month). I'm using these while anxiously awaiting the Oct KOM! :) I used distress ink on the background with a dobber, stamped it with my background stamp using Ranger distress embossing ink,(I need to get a Unity background stamp!...and since there is a sale, I'm going to!) then I used clear embossing powder on it. Then I went back over it with the same color distress ink. It just so happened to match my new fall papers I got from Stampin' Up! This card is also for the "Fall" challenge over at The Pink Elephant this week.

I stamped one of the heart flowers inside the card since the ones on the outside are only half stamped. And here is a close-up so you can see the embossing...

I also created this layout for 52 Sketches...52 Weeks. I used the round month stamp from the Unity Sept KOM since I needed a large circle image for that spot and that stamp fit perfectly!

Thanks so much for stopping by on Friends with Flair Friday! Be sure to check out my Sweet Deal on the Unity Oct Store Stamp Kit on my sidebar & enter my Halloween blog candy!

    A sweet picture...

    Hi All,

Just wanted to share with you a neat picture that I captured of my sweet Hunny dog this weekend. She was sound asleep and had just a tiny bit of her tongue sticking out. I thought it was the CUTEST thing and was able to snap the shot before she fully opened her eyes. Notice the Provo Craft Cricut Cartridge next to her?? That was there and I couldn't move it because I was afraid to wake her...maybe she can be in the next commercial?? Provo, please contact me for more information. LOL :)

Hope you enjoyed your lovely weekend.

    {no animals were harmed during this photoshoot}

Unity Stamp Co. Bachelor Bro Challenge Week #4

I entered the Unity Stamp Co. Bachelor Bro Challenge Week #4. The challenge was to make a recipe card. I thought about doing a food recipe, but I couldn't think of one to do so I used another take on it and created a recipe for a "stud muffin". I thought it would be clever & cute LOL. Here is my recipe card:

And here is a close-up so you can see the crystal effects I added to the cupcakes. The embossed cupcake paper is KI Memories (Elsie), the green/brown patterned paper is from DCWV's Sweet Stack. I used a green Prisma Watercolor pencil to fill in the green accents. All the stamps are from Unity's August kit of the month and the August store kit of the month. I love these stamps!

    Stamping 411 #120 - Saturday Sketch Time

So I'm up early posting...or late rather...I'm such a night owl. WHOOO. :) I used the Stamping 411 #120 sketch this time.

I used Stampin' Up cardstock the sentiment and the green ink. The other stamps are from The Paper Company...I just had to get the little critters they were so cute! The brown ink is Tsukineko. I stamped the deer on the inside too to finish off the card.
That's it folks! Bedtime for me. :) Zzzzzzz
